RE: Guide incident with crocodile – October 2024

Dhipirri Barra and Sportfishing Lodge is thankful to report our guide Sean Fiumara is recovering in Royal Darwin Hospital, after a freakish incident with a crocodile whilst guiding this week in Arnhem Land.

Sean suffered damage to his right leg when pulled into the water from a standing position on the boat, and only quick thinking on his part, and with the assistance of his clients who lifted him out of the water, saw him get out of danger.

His clients were unharmed, and the boat safely returned to Dhipirri Lodge. He was transported to Milingimbi Medical Clinic for initial care and assessment, and then transferred by Care Flight to Darwin with further treatment at RDH.

We are extremely grateful that Sean was not seriously injured and want to stress this was not the result of any negligence on his part.

This incident is a sobering reminder of the dangerous nature of being in the habitat of crocodiles and that we need to be Croc Wise at all time.

We are happy to pass on well wishes for Sean, who is in good spirits and is aware of just how lucky he was.

Regards,

Dhipirri Management
