25th Metrey caught at Dhipirri Barra Lodge for 2024

Sam Crowley – a long time regular at Dhipirri – has finally joined the Metre Club with a 101cm Dhipirri Barra caught this week!

His Metrey takes the count at Dhipirri to 22 caught by clients, with another 3 from our Guides taking the tally to 25 for the 2024 season so far.

Sam was fishing in The Glyde with his mate Steve Falconer and Dhipirri Guide Greg Campbell when he reeled in this 101, and just 30 minutes later Steve came agonisingly close to making it two Metreys on the boat in one session with a 99.8cm Barra.

Fishing can be a cruel thing sometimes, even when you catch such a wonderful fish it can still feel gutting to fall short of the magical metre mark.

Also on one side of Sam’s Metrey there was significant flesh wounds – something had a go at this big girl but she got away… only to end up smashing Sam’s lure!

Happy to report this Dhipirri Barra went back in.

Congrats Sam!
