Position Vacant: Chef at Dhipirri Lodge for 2025

Position Vacant: Qualified Chef / Experienced Cook

Location: Dhipirri Barra and Sportfishing Lodge in Arnhem Land, NT.

Starting Date: From late February 2025 through to December 2025, and potentially beyond.

Dhipirri Lodge is located in East Arnhem Land, in a very remote part of the Northern Territory.

We require a self-motivated, creative and fully qualified chef/experienced cook who can work individually to manage our kitchen and demonstrate culinary expertise with a strong emphasis on the fabulous and fresh seafood caught in the local area. We’d love our new chef to bring all these elements together to enhance the overall ‘Dhipirri Experience’ for our valued clients.

Skills Required:

  • Qualified Chef/Experience Cook – expertise with fresh locally caught seafood – various types of Fish and Mud Crabs.
  • Must meet the new NT Health requirements and demonstrate evidence of compliance of the new food standard – Food Safety Management Tools – with adequate completed training courses to be a Food Safety Supervisor, or have evidence of training, skill set or knowledge to carry out safe food practices – completed food safety/food handling courses.
  • Police check and first aid desirable but not essential to gain initial employment.
  • Punctual, self-motivated and self-managed, energetic person with the ability to work individually and unassisted with food preparation.
  • Prepare set menus for 3 meals per day. This includes cooking breakfast, prepare packed lunches including morning tea, and full three course dinner (entrée, main & dessert).
  • Excellent time management abilities. Our food stores are delivered every two weeks via Sea Swift barge. Ability to monitor food supplies and pre-order stock two weeks in advance of meal preparation. experience or knowledge of online ordering would assist.
  • Passionate about food, attention to detail and ensure appealing plate presentation is essential!
  • Knowledge or training in culinary baking and pastry techniques is required to prepare morning tea (included in pre-packed boat lunches) and desserts served every night following main.
  • Slightly modify recipes to meet client & staff health and/or medical needs and requests (e.g. allergies, high cholesterol, vegans, pescatarian, gluten free).
  • Comfortable interacting and discussing the meals with clients.
  • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and be a team player in a very remote location.
